An annual event for over 50 years, the Vancouver International Boat Show is the premier boating event in Western Canada and the largest showcasing of the recreational boating industry in British Columbia.
If you’re a boat fanatic, you’ll want to be here (unless it happens to be an incredibly gorgeous day, in which case you might prefer to be out on your boat)!
Much of the event is indoors at BC Place Stadium at 777 Pacific Boulevard, which is great if it’s a typically rainy January day. It also takes place at the Granville Island Maritime Market and Marina at 1676 Duranleau Street, and free shuttle buses and water ferries run continuously between the two venues.

Is the largest winter festival in the world. Its reputation for good times and festivities places it right up there with the worlds biggest events, albeit with its icy touch. 475 tons of water is used to create snow sculptures, including an incredible ice palace.
There are various competitions, such as dog sledding, canoe and sleigh racing, and things really get hopping when thousands descend for the night parade, ushered in by a boisterous character known as the Bonhomme, and his naughty knights. The Quebec Winter Carnival - Carnaval de Québec has been celebrated annually since 1955 but started intermittently from 1894.
